My husband is way too jealous

Dear Pastor,
This is not the first time I am writing to you. When I was in high school I wrote to you and you helped me.
I went on to college and did well. I met my husband in college. I have been married now for five years. The problem I am facing with my husband is that he is a very jealous. I am working among men, and sometimes they have to call me after my office is closed because I supervise them. My husband is always fussing when the men call and he wants them to give their names and to explain to him why they are calling after 6 or 7 p.m.
Whenever he answers the phone, instead of just saying ‘Somebody wants you on the phone’, he says ‘One of your lovers is on the phone’. I told him that he should just say ‘A call for you, dear’, because there are times when women call him and I do not tell him ‘One of your women is trying to reach you’. I just tell him to take up the phone.
It is hard to deal with this jealous man. We attend the same church and even the brothers at church have come to realise how jealous and foolish he is. So for that reason, they do not say much to me. Even if the pastor wants to talk to me, he does not speak to me alone; he does so in the presence of other members because he knows how jealous and stupid my husband is. Why do you think this man does not trust me?
S.
Dear S.,
I don’t know why your husband doesn’t trust you. What I can tell you is that some men don’t have to have reasons for not trusting women.
Some men believe that every woman would cheat and they believe that if a woman has a male friend, they must be going to bed. If the woman is beautiful and keeps herself well, and by that I mean she exercises and takes care of herself, some men believe that these types of women cheat.
I am going to tell you, don’t listen to your husband. You will become ill if you take on his nonsense. Continue to live a good life. Be faithful to him regardless of what he says you might be doing.
